Climbers: Yasu, Mayu, taka and Yusuke

It is Labor Day and last day of climbing.  Although with yesterday's rain, the boulders were pretty dry.

We all warmed up with Qaid V2*.  taka wanted to send Humility V5*** so she tried.  She fell from top which was wet with moss.  I went there and cleaned and dried.  After that taka finished it as it is the first V5 for her.  Good Job!

We didn't have much time so taka and I finished Proana V4*** which I thought was V1 and Exorexic V3*** which also I thought was V2.  But anyway, we had some fun climbs at last:)

今日は最後の日。　6時間ドライブなのでお昼までしか時間がない。　前日の雨の割には岩は乾いてる。　

みんなでQaid V2*をやる。　おいらは見事に足を滑らせてフラッシュを逃す。　細かいホールドを激保持するマユミちゃんの果敢な登りに驚いた。　セイタ君を超える日は近い。

takaはHumility V5***をリベンジ。　2手目を取るのに難儀するが、中間部はスイスイ。　でもマントルで一回上から落ちてくる…。　どうやら上がヌメってるらしい。　ということでおいらは上に行ってクリーニング。　コケが一杯水分を含んでたんできれいにしてよかった。　takaの最後の渾身のトライでマントルもしっかり返して完登。　初のV5おめでとう！

最後は時間がないのでProana V4***とExorexic V3***をやる。　Proana V4***はV1に感じるくらい簡単で、Exorexic V3***はジムのようなダイナミックな動きがあって楽しいがV2くらいにしか感じなかったｗ

帰りは30分くらい運転してマックで昼食を取り、Monsterのカロリーゼロを片手に5時間半ノンストップで家に帰った。　途中、大雨で大変だったけど、連続ドライブ更新したｗ

tasted several wines for free (?)

It rained... We had to rest but I was happy to have a rest day because 4 consecutive days of climbing was too much.

We went out to Forks of Cheat Winery to have wine tasting.  Not many grapes were grown there but we bought some wines with good deals.  

Then we had early dinner at Mountain State Brewing Co.  They had good pizza but the selection of beers weren't a lot.  

今日は雨。。。4日連続して登ってたんで強制レストで少しホッとした。

特にやることがないんで、10分くらいのところにあるワイナリーへ。　ブドウはここであまり採れないらしい。　でもおいしいワインをテイスティングさせてもらったんで5本ほど買って帰った。　一本$12～$15ドルってところなんで安い。

早めの夕食ってことでMountain State Brewing Co.へ。　石焼釜のピザはとても美味しかったけど、ブリュワリーの割にはビールのセレクションは4種類しかないんでちょっとガッカリ。　値段も一杯$4.75ともう一つの方と比べても高い。　まっ、でもピザは美味しかったんで良しとする。

Yasu and Mayu joined today but Yasu brought rain to Coopers, arghhhh.  Today, I was thinking of having a rest.  First we went to Picnic Table Area.  Yasu and I finished Humpy V4***, the trick was the toe cam...

We all moved to Upper Rock City Area.  taka finished Dextrose V3**, a very funcky top out sequence.  I introduced Tomb Raider V3**** to Yasu and I was staring at Tomb Raider Roof V7***.  The start hold of this V7 was wet like it said on the  guide book but then Art and Esten of Adventures in Pebble Wrestling came over and told me that it is in good condition.  I thought the rain will ruin the problem for couple of few days and they were giving me some beta, although no finger skin left I started to work on it.
When I was struggling with this V7, Frenchy and his crew came.  We all had sessions.  I was managed to go to the mantling position however the crux of this entire problem was the topout.  I fell from the top and I thought this mantle is not possible but taka figured the move for me.  With the final try, I did her move and red pointed it.  Although mantle looks ugly but it was a good send for me.


今日はセイタ君とマユミちゃんが合流。　セイタ君が雨雲を持ってきた模様ｗ　セイタ君がミニルーフを希望してたのでPicnic Table Areaへ直行。　例によってアプローチは1分未満。

おいらは3日連続なんでさすがにレストデー、と思ってたら、やっぱり登りたくなってしまったんでセイタ君が頑張ってやってたHumpy V4***をやる。　トーをジャムるってことが分かれば簡単だった。　

雲行きは更に怪しくなってきたがUpper Rock City Areaへ移動。　おいら以外の3人はセッション開始。　takaは数便でDextrose V3**を登る。　そしたら雷が鳴り始め、雨が降ってきたんで、様子見ってことでTomb Raiderの岩で雨宿り、と思って移動したら雨が止む…。　ラッキー。

セイタ君にTomb Raider V3****を紹介し、おいらはお隣のTomb Raider Roof V7***をチェック。　このV7はトポにも書いてあるのだがスターとホールドがいつも濡れているらしく、今日ももちろん濡れてる。　濡れてるなー、スタートはどないしてやるんやろうなぁ、って観察してたら、おいらがいつも気になってたAdventures in Pebble Wrestlingというブログを書いてるクライマーさんArtとEstenが現れたのだー。　彼らはここに何回か来てるのでV7を教えてもらうｗ　スタートはどうやら濡れてるけど乾燥している方だって、マジカ？ｗ　スタートが痛くて結構難しいということも分かった。　デモまでしてくれたんで、指皮ないけど、雨が怪しいし、岩の乾燥状態を優先して登ることにした。　

完全にセイタ君の登りはそっちのけで、V7に打ち込んでいたら、Frenchyご一行が参上。　もちろんヒョロナガFrenchyとセッションになるｗ　おいらはスタートの数手が自動化された時点でマントルポジションまで行けた。が、核心はマントルみたいで上から落っこちてしまう　(≡д≡) ｶﾞｰﾝ　マントルは嫌いじゃないのに…。　takaに動画撮ってもらってたんで登りを確認してみる。　takaから足位置の修正を指摘してもらい、頭の中で組み立て、もう一度トライ。　動画に映ってるマントルはブッサイクだけど、必死にマントル返して完登できた。　マントルが難しい理由は上部はすぐさまスラブに突入するということと、スラブ面には甘いカチしかないということ。

Because we were pretty tired from 2 consecutive days of climbing, we went out to Morgantown and got some giant ice cream from Cold Stone and gained some energy back.
At around noon, we headed for Roadside Rocks Area.  The approach was 1 minute or less, great:)  I had some warm up climbs and got onto Bizzaro V5****.  Because my legs are short and not flexible, my heel hook was squeezing perfectly and able to climb with no problem.  Helicopter V5**** was ass dragging problem and crux of it is not to hit the ground. 
We hiked about 5 minutes to climb Bitch Slap Arête V5+****, and is the only obvious good problem around.  The height and the good landing makes this problem super good.  I had hard time squeezing and getting the pocket at the top.


これまで2日登って疲れてたんで、ゆっくり目に起床し、エネルギー不足のため(?)にMorgantownのCold Stoneへ行ってアイスクリームを食す。　何でアイスクリーム？ｗｗｗ　甘くて多すぎて気持ち悪い感じだったけど、エネルギーが回復したと思うｗ

今日はRoadside Rocks Areaへ出動。　アプローチは1分以内。　最高としか言えないｗ　Bizzaro V5****と言うクラシック課題が入り口すぐにあるのでまずはその周辺でアップ。　簡単なのもいくつもあるのでアップに困らない。　で、Bizzaro V5****に取りかかる。　おいらの足が短く硬いってこともあって、岩にヒールやトーがぴったりフィットしてすんなり登れたｗ　でも核心はトップアウトだと思った。

近くにあるHelicopter V5***もやる。　とにかく低いルーフ。　小川山の犬小屋の下を3倍くらい長くした感じｗ　核心はルーフで足をすらないことと、最後のガバ取りかな。

ちょっと距離があるがBitch Slap Arête V5+****をやりに行く。　ハイボールだけどランディングは割りと良い。　挟み込み系で少し苦手意識ががある。　核心は上部のポッケを取るところかな。　背が低いんで無理やりヒールして取るのがバランスが悪くて怖かった。

最後はMad Butcher Traverse V2****という長－－いトラバースをやる。　ガバ続きだけど、最後の方に出てくるスローパーっぽいレールが核心なので、最後でやられる感じ。

Tilted Tree Area is wide spread area

Climbers: taka and Yusuke

Today we went directly to Tilted Tree Area.  Easy to understand from guidebook.

I had no friggin' luck on Crash and Burn V5 nor Twist Dah Hick V5... but had some successful sends.

Humility V5, I thought was bit easy for V5 around but good face wall problem.  Anti-Elvis V4 was a petite lunge problem and I liked it very much.  Shadow Boxer V6 is semi-powerful problem, easier if you have a reach.  

taka took some time to figure out her moves on Moby's Dick V3 but managed to cleanly send the problem.  Good job!

Lat afternoon, we went to Picnic Table Area, which surprised me that the approach to it is one minute or less :o   I wanted to do The Golden Path V5 but one big move took me several tries to stick; otherwise the problem consists of good holds and good moves.  Mushroom V3 was surprisingly difficult top out, hahaha.

今日は課題が多そうなTilted Tree Areaへ。トポ通りに行ったら簡単に到着、アプローチは10分弱ってところでしょうか。

アップでCyrax V2を二人で打つ。　GunksにあるLorax V4の姉妹課題って書いてあったけど、全然似てないし！　隣にあるCrash and Burn V5は高い課題の上にランジが上部にあって、結局ランジが決まらず敗退orz

適度にtakaができそうな課題を探して、Qaid V2を紹介したらtakaはオンサイトしちまった。。。うーん、課題探しは大変そうだ。　おいらはその背面にあるHumility V5を見て簡単そうだったんで打ってみたら2便。　V5がこんなんでいいんかね？

更にすぐそばにある4つ星のMoby's Dick V3をやる。　挟み込み系と判断し、挟み込んで完登、フラッシュ逃したがとても良い課題だと思った。　見た目もクジラっぽい。　takaも挟み込みを真似るが苦手ってことで、自分ムーヴで解決開始（女性で挟み込みが得意って人がいたら本当に尊敬するｗ　いや、怖いかも）。　そしたら何便か打ったら上部をカチでこなして完登したですｗ　すごいなぁ、と関心。　ちなみに4つ星はここのスーパークラシック課題。

takaが満足している間にもおいらは他の4つ星課題を探して打つ。　Anti-Elvis V4って課題。　初手の足ホールドがありそうでない課題、でも無理矢理スタでやったらダメでフラッシュを逃すｗｗｗ　てことでランジスタートｗ　初手ははっきり言ってガバなんで簡単に止まり、上部もそこまで難しくなかったんであっさり完登。　でも楽しい課題だと思いました。

Shadow Boxer V6って課題に移動するが、隅っこにあるセセコマしい課題だったｗ　でも取り付く。　パワー系です、はい。　でも好物のヒールでいくらかごまかせる。　結局10便くらい打って完登。　体幹使うんで疲れたよ…。

やっぱり4つ星は打ちたいよなーってことで、超ハイボールで垂壁課題のTwist Dah Hick V5にトライ。　核心手前までは何とか行けたけど、核心がちょぉーーー遠く遥か彼方に見えないポッケだもんだし、既に高い位置にいるってことで、ド敗退orz　スポッターがいても怖いかもなぁと思う。

ちょっとガッカリだったんでPicnic Table Areaで仕切り直し。　全然違うエリアなので車で移動するが、駐車場からボルダーが見える距離。　なーんて楽チンなんだろーｗｗｗ　岩もミニルーフでｗｋｔｋだしThe Golden Path V5が目立ってカッコいい。　てことですぐさま解析開始！　えー、核心はアンダーからの左手の一手のみ…。　あとは特に辛くなかったという印象。　GunksだったらV4だろうなぁ、と。　あ、でも動画を見たらマントルで若干苦戦してるんじゃんｗ
最後にMushrooms V3という4つ星をやる。　なめてかかったらマントルで超苦戦。　スローパー地獄で簡単にマントルを返してくれないんですおｗ　でも例によって無理矢理返して完登する。

夜はトポにも載っているBlack Bearと言うメキシカンを中心に出すレストランへ。　テーブルでオーダーではなく、カウンターで食事と飲み物をオーダーする仕組みで戸惑うが美味しく食べれました。　ただーーーし、量が尋常じゃない。　僕らだったら1つオーダーして半分で十分ってことで、2つオーダーしちゃったんで翌朝の食事のためwrapして持ち帰った。　お店はそれなりにローカルビールも扱ってるんでお酒飲みでも楽しめると思うっす。
